Given the slowdown in the growth of the embedded market, the company will focus on enterprise-level products in the future, and the research and development of traditional mechanical hard drives will not stop.

Hajeck described the difference between SSDs and mechanical hard drives as "high performance" and "low performance," and stated that it is true for both consumer and enterprise products. Since the general revenue of the consumer market is not much, the company does not currently have plans to launch SSD products. He thinks that for ordinary users, the traditional hard disk or hybrid hard disk (Western data is not yet available, may start R & D in the future?) Is the best storage device.

Western Digital expects to complete the acquisition of Hitachi Global Storage (HGST) in March 2012. After the merger is completed, it will first use the latter's SSD technology to launch enterprise-class SSDs. In addition to the newly established 50-person R&D team in Taiwan, Western Digital has nearly 300 SSD R&D teams and more than 2,000 mechanical hard disk R&D teams in the United States.
