To laminate mica paper with glass fabric, film, and/or other flexible materials, then we get mica tapes.

Application: Main insulation in HV and MV motors

Usually 2 types of mica tape are available:
Resin rich type
Suitable for hot-pressing method.

VPI type
VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) with a low binder content for coils and bars insulation of HV rotating Machines

Reinforced materials: Glass cloth, polyimide film, polyester film


 
D620-1 consists of mica paper, modified epoxy adhesive and Polyimide film (PI film) from single side as reinforcing material. The adhesive content in this tape is around 5~11%. Its characteristics of process under the normal temperature: good flexibility, no conglutination between layer and layer when unreeling, no powder when wrapping. This tape is compatible and can be solidified with solventless epoxy resin and attains reliable insulation property after curing. This tape shows good stability at normal temperature. It is applicable for VPI insulation system for high-voltage electric motors (≥6.0kv, H to C class).
 
1  Performance Requirement
 
1.1 Appearance: Free of bubble, pin-hole, conglutination, delamination, exogenous impurity and the phenomena such as mica paper rupture, glass fibre sheding from glass cloth and reel relaxation. The adhesive shall be uniform coated.
 
1.2 Dimension
 
1.2.1 The recommended width: 15mm+/-1mm, 20mm+/-1mm, 25mm+/-1mm, 30mm+/-1mm, 35mm+/-1mm. Mica tape¡s other width and tolerance can also be supplied upon the negotiation between manufacturers and users.
1.2.2 Length: Length of the mica paper tape is denoted with the diameter of the reel or roll. The diameter of the reel or roll is 95mm+/-5mm or 115mm+/-5mm. The splices are less than 2 and the minimum length is at least 5m. The mark shall be obvious at the splice.

2  Referee Test Methods
 
All Test as per Test Method GB/T5019-2002 (MOD IEC60371-2: 1987).
 
 
 
3 Inspection, mark, packaging, transportation and storage

3.1 The product made continually with the same raw material and the same process is defined as a batch. The weight for each batch is not over 2000kg. The inspection items for Routine Test shall include Clause 1.1, 1.2 and all items in Table 1 of Clause 1.3.
3.2 The specimens should be taken out as per no less than 5% of total packing cartons, at least 3 cartons. Then take out 1 reel from each specimen carton. Inspect as per Clause 1.1 and 1.2. For the items in Table 1 of Clause 1.3, take out any one reel to test.
 
3.3 Storage life: 180 days at room temperature) or270 days (below 20ºC ) from the date of leaving factory.
 
3.4 Other items shall comply with GB/T5020-2002 (IEC60371-1: 1980).
 
 
4  Application remarks
 
4.1 D620-1 meets the normal VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) process. From pre-baking, VPI treatment to heating curing conditions, it can be processed as per the impregnating resin requirements
 
4.2 Storage: Under 30ºC. If mica tape takes out from refrigerating room, open the packing plastic bags until the mica tape gets back to normal temperature, in order to avoid dewing.
 
4.3 The tape can be used with various solventless epoxy resins. For the compatibility with other impregnating resin, it depends upon the corresponding test results.
